The European Acoustics Association, EAA, according to its objectives, for the year 2009 will promote with grants and awards the active participation of young researchers and students to the 8th European Conference On Noise Control, EURONOISE 2009, to be held in Edinburgh from October 26 to 28, 2009.

YEAR 2009

ANNOUNCEMENT

 The European Acoustics Association, EAA, according to its objectives, for year the 2009 will promote with grants and awards the active participation of young researchers and students to the 8th European Conference On Noise Control, EURONOISE 2009, to be held in Edinburgh from October 26 to 28, 2009.

 

  1. GRANTS FOR YOUNG RESEARCHERS

EAA will support with grants the participation of 20 European young acousticians to the EURONOISE 2009 Conference.

    1. 10 grants are reserved to researchers and students of East European Countries  (Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine) and will include free registration at the Congress and an amount of 400 Euro for travel and accommodation expenses.
    1. 10 grants are reserved to researchers and students of European Countries (excluding Countries listed in point 1) and will include free registration at the Congress.

To apply for these grants, students must be:

a)      enrolled to a university course (Bachelor, Master, PhD)

b)      no more than 30 years old on 01.01.2009

c)      citizen of one of the European countries member of EAA

d)      first author of the paper that will be presented at EURONOISE 2009

Interested students must register and upload their abstracts to the congress website http://www.euronoise2009.org.uk and in parallel send their application in electronic form to the General Secretary of EAA secretary@european-acoustics.net

before February 16, 2009

The application must include the following documents (in pdf format):

a)      university enrolment certificate

b)      birth and citizenship certificate or a passport copy

c)      short curriculum vitae with list of publications

d)      letter of support from the supervisor

e)      abstract of the paper submitted to Euronoise 2009 + one page of theory/experiments/results/conclusion.

The Board of the European Acoustics Association, on the basis of the applications received, will publish a list of winners of the grants before March 30, 2009 on the EAA web site

www.eaa-fenestra.org and will inform the winners accordingly.

The winners are invited to present the contribution in oral or poster form at the Congress.

 

  1. “BEST PAPER PRESENTATION” AWARDS FOR YOUNG RESEARCHERS

 The EAA will offer three “Best Paper Presentation Awards” to young researchers who will present a paper as first author at the EURONOISE 2009 Conference.

 AWARD AMOUNT: 1000 €.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible to the “Best paper presentation award” the young researcher must:

a)      be no more than 30 years old on 01.01.2009.

b)     be the first author of the submitted abstract and full paper

c)      present the paper at the meeting (oral or poster)

SELECTION:

The award winners will be selected by a jury nominated by the Board of the European Acoustics Association. The selection will be based upon the quality of both the content of the paper and its presentation. The awards will be announced either at the conference or after the close of the conference.

APPLICATION:

All those who wish to participate in the competition for “Best paper presentations awards” must indicate their intention by sending an e-mail, to the General Secretary of EAA, secretary@european-acoustics.net with the subject line: For EAA Best Paper Award  

before 30 June 2009.

To the e-mail must be attached (in pdf format):

a) birth and citizenship certificate or a passport copy

b) the full paper that will be presented at EURONOISE 2009.
