ViennaTalk2010

The 2nd ViennaTalk on Music Acoustics is a two days international symposium organised by the Institute of Musical Acoustics (Wiener Klangstil) of the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna, in association with the TCMA of the EAA. It will be co-sponsored by the ASA and HBS.

The meeting will take place on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Institute. The date has been chosen such that participants of the EAA EUROREGIO 2010 in Ljubliana can travel to Vienna directly after the conference there has closed.

Scientists are invited as well as musicians and makers or conservators of musical instruments. The title "Bridging the Gaps" aims at initiating a dialogue between the aforementioned groups. Scientists will be encouraged to present their papers in a generally understandable way, and instrument makers and musicians will be able to communicate their observations, hypotheses and problems to an interested scientific audience. This way, research might be directed towards new questions, while manufacturers, musicians, instrument conservators and collectors will have the opportunity to find answers and get access to new methods and tools.
